My Why:
I chose "Goodbye Guilt" as the theme because the word "guilt" emerges repeatedly in conversations with my clients as the primary obstacle preventing them from prioritizing self-care. It's a pervasive struggle, and in our culture, mothers are often expected to bear the weight of balancing work, parenting, household tasks, and everything else – except themselves.
The constant juggling act puts moms in a position of competing responsibilities and expectations every day, forcing them to prioritize one role over another. In this relentless cycle, their own needs often find a place at the bottom of the list due to the limitations of the hours in a day.
I've experienced this firsthand. By dedicating time to activities that bring me joy and mental clarity, I've become more present and engaged when I'm with my children. Prioritizing fitness and wellness has allowed me to demonstrate strength and instill in them the importance of health. Sacrificing some time with my kids in favor of kid-free moments with my husband has strengthened our relationship, offering a valuable lesson in love and partnership to our children.
Choosing how to spend the limited hours in a day can be daunting. Overcoming mom guilt to allocate even 30 minutes for oneself is a significant challenge. But consider this perspective: When you choose yourself, you're not only choosing personal well-being but also making a powerful choice for your child's well-being. It's a transformative act that reverberates positively throughout your family.
